Kimono - what is the difference between Haori and Yukata?

Japanese culture has long been known for beautiful and elegant traditional clothes such as the kimono. However, among the different types of kimonos, two are the most famous - haori kimono and yukata.

A kimono haori is a type of traditional Japanese cloak that is worn over a kimono. It is made of a lightweight material, mainly silk or cotton, and often has a bold pattern or embroidered details. Haori usually has short sleeves and is fastened at the front with a wide belt called "obi". It is an elegant outfit that is worn during special occasions such as wedding ceremonies or celebrations.

Yukata, on the other hand, is a slightly different type of traditional Japanese clothing that is often worn during summer festivals or on beaches. It is a light, straight-cut cotton dress with short sleeves, which is usually fastened at the front with a wide belt. Yukata tends to have a more flowing feel than haori kimono and is often decorated with colorful floral, animal or landscape patterns. Yukata is also a more casual and everyday version of the kimono.

Despite different functions, differences in cut, material and prints, the clothes are equally interesting and reflect the rich culture of Japan.
